ALERT!!! Less Than 3 weeks until the Hog-a-Thon!!!

We have just 1 house still available for Hog-a-Thon lodging.

Got the food and prizes ordered and helpers pretty much arranged.  GRAND Door Prize is a new Vexilar FL-18.  Also upgrades on other door prizes.

New this spring/summer:  "Maple Leaf" an executive lodging suite in Bergland, available by day or week.  Details & Photos as soon as available, in Private Rentals Section.

Bazaar:  It's still early, but we currently have commitments for 6 tables/booths plus refreshment stand and kids Games.  Check our Bazaar page for more details.  Reserve your spot as a vendor of new or used merchandise or for interactive table/booth (such as face painting, chainsaw art, etc.)

FISHING:  Wow!  things have really picked up the last 4 days.  Walleyes are hit n miss and perch are awesome.   Some ATV travel is now possible, but mainly on the hard tracks.  Guys getting stuck sometimes with 4 wheelers, and the new snow doesn't help with that.

2/22 Zamesnik & Riley do it again with 13 perch each.   Scott Rathbun displays 2 of his 10 from 2/21.

2/21/12 Dave Zamesnik & Tom Riley had another good day fishing from Gus' shacks on Lake Gogebic. 

 (above) Tom & Curt with Gus' Guide services (Marty, "Larry").              Curt & Tom display Hog perch, and with their 1 1/2 day catch.

SNOW & ICE: There's about 14" of solid ice on Lake Gogebic, with slush pockets.  Got 5+ inches of snow in the last 24 hours.  Smaller hits for a few days, then the potential for heavy lake effect Sunday night and Monday.  Please be courteous of private property and know your legal routes. 

 Snowmobile rentals for ice fishing.  Gus now has a couple available at a rate of $75 per day.

 Vexilar FL-18's:  NEW, for rent at $30/day.  We also have a supply of NEW and nearly new "fully charged" Vex batteries for sale.

  Hog-a-Thon will definitely be a tailgate party at Maple Ridge.  Outdoor roasted meats, and a good variety of other eats.  BIG bonfire, beer and pop tent, and prize drawings and awards ceremony.  Progress reports kept current on our facebook page.

 Also, coming in 2012:  Last 2 pounder of the season Award.  In addition to your 2 Pounder club cap, winner will receive $100 cash prize.  Fish must be alive and fresh caught at weigh in.  Maple Ridge reserves the right to disqualify any entry which, in our opinion, violates the spirit of this contest.  Keep an eye on the Current Updates page for notification of final entry date.  This will be determined by ice conditions.  As always, this is a "fish at your own risk" event.  We strongly discourage fishing on unsafe ice, and will make every effort to close the contest with this in mind.  Please report to us, any unsafe ice conditions you encounter, as this is a big lake and we cannot continually evaluate every area.

            Jeremy, Mark, Kevin, Andy, and the 1st place walleye winner (Russ' Bait Tourney) Mike Graser.  Mike Caught the winning walleye from one of Gus' walleye shacks.  Mark caught 2nd place near-by.  Pictured Northern Pike measured 34 1/4" & 33 1/2".  Good job guys!

 SHOP MAKE-OVER & BAZAAR:  New stock arriving every few days for our new gift shop.  Lots of really cool things:  soy wax beads for warmers, both electric and tea light type warmers in stock, hand crafted soaps, lotions, jewelry.  Gift & souvenir items like copper art and trinkets, appropriate to this "copper country".  I have 100+ year old mineral specimen boxes from an area mine, rescued and decorated with copper cut outs of Michigan and the UP.  Very reasonable! and a nice souvenir.  A 1oz. copper bullion round fits just right inside :), hand painted rock animals, and so much more.

 BAIT & FISH TAXIDERMY SHOP:  Nearly finished with this year's "customer" taxidermy work.  Then we'll start on some new display mounts.  Gus is chomping at the bit to empty all of the freezers.  Shop hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. ET (Sunday's just till 3 p.m.).  After hours bait 24 hours.  We have minnows, wigglers and wax worms in stock.

 BEAR CAMP: Is over for the year.  Already planning for 2012.  We'll see you then.  NEWS:  Maple Ridge has just become an official black bear registration station.  We rent space in our walk-in game cooler and freezer for your kill (this is a free service for our Guide Clients).  Also plan to stock bear bait for sale.
